Frequently Asked Questions

What should I look for in a therapist?
It's important that you trust your therapist and feel that they are providing good care. It may take a few sessions before you begin to feel safe with a new therapist, but a good therapist will give you the space to connect at your own pace. Feel free to ask about the therapy, how it works, what you should expect, or anything else that you have questions about. Be wary of a therapist who discourages questions.
Why try therapy again?
Sometimes the chemistry between a therapist and client isn't a good fit. Just as you may interview a few internists before entrustng one with your medical needs, you may find that you have success with one therapist over another. In addition, at times people are less ready to make a commitment to seeking change in their lives, and you might be more ready now that you were previously.
How do I pay you?
I accept cash or check. I also accept electronic payment from your bank to my bank (Chase) with the quick-pay option called Zelle.
How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
Usually I can schedule you within a week or two.
Who comes to the first appointment?
If you are an adult you come. For teens, I see the parents the first time without the adolescent. This allows me to get a detailed clinical history while at the same time allowing the parents to ask any questions they may have.
What ages do you see?
18 years old and above.
